Know your own level
To build a suitable IELTS learning route, you need to understand your English level well to have a method to improve your limitations and avoid rambling without bringing any results.
Normally, when participating in IELTS courses for beginners, the level of students will be in two common target groups:
- Group 1: People who have lost their English roots or only know a little about English, their skills are still weak.
- Group 2: People who have background knowledge of English, but have never practiced IELTS.
In addition, to know your exact level and ability of yourself, you can register to participate in the entrance test at the center that organizes IELTS courses, where you will be assessed the skills in the most precise way.

Roadmap to start IELTS course for beginners
Warm-up: You are only at the starting line with a round zero right now, so why not try setting a goal of 3.0 or 4.0 for yourself? Spend at least 2-3 hours a day to practice regularly for 3-4 months. Of course, at this stage, you do not need in-depth IELTS knowledge, instead, equip yourself with basic grammar and vocabulary knowledge as well as learn pronunciation. Especially grammar, because it will follow you through all four skills Listening - Speaking - Reading - Writing.
Practice Listening and Reading skills: After completing the warm-up step, you are confident to have background knowledge, you can start familiarizing yourself with the format of IELTS in this stage by solving problems and should note some formats. often appear in the IELTS Reading section
Practice Speaking: After practicing listening and repeating and writing down the material, you will see a marked improvement in your pronunciation and intonation skills. This is the premise for you to switch to IELTS Speaking practice.
In IELTS Speaking, you should divide it into parts 1, part 2, part 3 to make it easier to practice. You should find yourself a teacher or companion in this section to promptly correct your mistakes. However, you can still self-study IELTS Speaking by recording, but you have to make sure you have a good foundation in English.
Practice Writing: The IELTS writing test consists of two parts: task 1 and task 2, you need to understand the requirements of the topic, as well as the structure of these two parts. However, at this stage, you should focus on task 1 with at least 150 words to describe and compare a given map.
Acceleration: After passing the Warm-Up section above, here you will need to familiarize yourself with and practice all the rest of the IELTS test types as well as the format of a test. The method of practice will still be similar to the Warm-Up section above.
Reaching the finish line: This period is calculated about 2 months before you officially enter the IELTS exam.
